Season 5 Episodes

I was supposed to do a recap of "Bloody Mary" today, but I've not had time what with the RWA conference last week and being under two deadlines at the moment. But I did notice that we're getting some episode titles for Season 5. Here's what IMDB is listing so far:

Season 5, Episode 1: "Sympathy for the Devil" set to air Sept. 10 (Only 50 days away!), written by Eric Kripke

Hmm, interesting title. Who is sympathetic toward the Devil? I can't imagine it would be the Winchester boys, but I could be wrong. Perhaps just Sam? The cause of more friction between Sam and Dean?

Season 5, Episode 2: "Good God, Y'All" set to air Sept. 17, written by Sera Gamble

Have to say I love this episode title since I'm from the South. Interesting that we have the Devil mentioned in the first episode and then God in the second. Part of me thinks they wouldn't cast anyone in the God role, but who knows?

Season 5, Episode 3: "Good to Be You and Me" set to air Sept. 24, written by Jeremy Carver

On first glance, this seems like it might be a brothers-focused episode. Maybe this is when they start healing the rift between them? Maybe they go up against something that causes them to realize they really are on the same thing and that it's good to be them instead of whatever they're facing or people in worse situations.

In casting news, I saw where the role of the archangel Raphael -- a mechanic who is possessed by one of the most powerful beings in the universe -- is being added as a recurring role.

Right there with you, Terri. It's fun trying to figure out what the episode titles mean.

Oooooh. *bounces in seat*

Now, I'm a music moron, but the first title rang a bell with me, so I did a little quick research:

"Sympathy for the Devil" is a Rolling Stones song that kind of introduces him--what he's like, what he's done. Sounds perfect for the premiere, right?

"Good God, Y'all" is a line in "War" by Edwin Starr (you know, "War...huh...what's it good for? Absolutely nothin'."

"Good to Be You and Me" makes me think of an old kids TV show, but I can't find anything like that. It is a line from a Verve Pipe song, "Local Boys," which is a bit of a stretch but does fit your interpretation of the title (which I really hope is accurate, because that's what I waaannnnttt LOL).

I'm getting giddy. Only 7 weeks left!

Interesting connections, Natalie. I should have recognized the "Good God, Y'All" one.

Sympathy for the Devil - I am hoping that Kripke goes with the Devil is a fallen angel that has been banished for 2000 years and is not what all the propaganda has made him out to be. Because what better than to not want Samd & Den to really kill the bad guy beucase he's just another victim?

And the 3rd episode is "Free to be you and me" which was something Marlo Thomas did back when I was a kid. I remember it was a big deal but I was only like 10 so I dont' rememeber much.

After last season's greatness, I am very excited for S5!

Ah, free to be...yeah, that's the bell it was ringing. LOL So I wonder if they're going with songs through the whole season? Since they had a bit of a literary theme last year, but not exclusively.

I like that possibility for Lucifer. I always have a separation in my head between Lucifer-the-fallen-angel and Satan-pure-evil-tempter. Though the finale, with Azazel praised for all those nun murders, seems to indicate Lucifer isn't going to be exactly pure. LOL

That doesn't preclude the victim angle, though. Something along the lines of, "I did one little thing, and got stuck in this prison that corrupted me forever!"

Interesting possibility, phouse. I'm curious as heck now.
