In Dean's case, I use it lightly, and it's only applicable, as I said, in a superficial sense. If all I saw was Dean in a bar, macking on some slut in a short skirt, I'd be calling him that. LOL

On the other hand, if I had ever been able to spend any regular time with him, and seen what he is deep down, then of course, no, I wouldn't call him that.

Until he hit on the waitress at breakfast, right in front of me. Then I'd use it as I slapped him upside the head. LOLNatalie J. I think he's got too many heroic and selfless qualities to qualify as a dick. A male pig at times, sure....=)

I'm really hoping Dean is allowed to fight free of the hell memories. And surely, being pulled out of Hell by God nullifies his demon contract so that when he dies he won't go back!

And I like to think that while he's fighting demons and saving as many lives as he can, he'll find his own sort of redemption.

Whoo. relieved by my security word...the allyster thing was too weird.....=)Maureen Childhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07268514242489145876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236066461375464188.post-89759316497766096132009-02-04T17:25:00.000-06:002009-02-04T17:25:00.000-06:00LOL!! Especially when there are a couple million women out here willing to ease his pain for him. Hee.

I think I am more than a little afraid of what that evil Kripke will make Dean have to do to really be able to live with himself.

Me, toooo!

~~~~
Well, M, you already like to torture people. :) Just kidding. I don't think I'd last at all. I'm much more delicate than I act, and I don't think I'd have any tolerance to fight back.
Dean being a dick in no way makes him less worthy or lovable. It's all surface, for us. But to him, it's evidence. Or reward, depending on what kind of mood he's in. :)
BWAAHAHAHAH on the word verification!
~~~~
Thanks, Terri!

I have chosen to believe he didn't really look anything up, he just likes digging at Sam with these little jokes, getting that exasperated "You're so Dean" reaction. It's...okay, maybe this is too deep, but...it's like a touchstone. It's normality, and grounds him, and uses the one solid, dependable, worthwhile thing he has in his life.Natalie J. When he looked up the legal cheerleaders in After School Special I was like "Ew!" But I love him and I think he's doing everything he can to distance himself from his pain. He is in his own personal hell and that's so heartbreaking.

My word verification: unmen. I'd be off that rack in about three months.

Dean's a dick, but so what? Who's never loved someone who was less than perfect? He's a dick, but he's a hero, too.

I'm one of the ones who wonders how you can come back from Hell and survive it, emotionally, and ever, ever heal. I have faith in the writers, though, to make it happen.

MAuthorMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06341063492619003784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236066461375464188.post-56137714293301389672009-02-03T23:58:00.000-06:002009-02-03T23:58:00.000-06:00I spent a great deal of this past summer thinking ...I spent a great deal of this past summer thinking about Dean in hell. How could I not? That last shot of him ripped my heart out. This show kills me! How have I become so invested in these characters?

I'll tell you. In many ways, they are real. Maybe not the demon hunter part but the emotional bond the brothers have and the totally crappy lives they have lined? they are real.

I think you hit the nail on the head with Dean having to somehow learn to live with no only what he did in hell but with some of what he has done topside. He was kind of a dick in S1. I know I thought so. But his love for his family gave me a glimpse of a man that I could really care about.

I think we all have bad things happen to us to some degree. It's how we live our lives apart from that, how we treat others in general that makes the bitch/dick part of us bearable. And while Supernatural is way above and beyond anything that would happen to most of us, what we do for family is what keep us from truly being evil.

Dean has done some evil things. He was "saved". Now he fights every day for his redemption. I think I am more than a little afraid of what that evil Kripke will make Dean have to do to really be able to live with himslef.phouse1964https://www.blogger.com/profile/14462424704338238347noreply@blogger.com
