Welcome, Supernatural fans!

If you're a fan of things that go bump in the night -- as long as there's a hunky Winchester brother to make it go bye-bye -- then you've come to the right place. We're very excited to launch the Supernatural Sisters blog on the day when Sam and Dean return for the second half of the season. We're all waiting anxiously to see what's in store for the boys around the next curve in the road.

So you've found our site, noticed that we've identified ourselves as fangirls and writers. Now you may be wondering, just who are these fangirls? We're all published fiction authors. What do we write? Romance, young adult fiction, women's fiction, romantic adventure and whatever other kinds of stories demand to be told. So expect to see at least some posts on this blog from a writer's point of view. And if you're curious to know more, check out the links to our personal Web sites in the sidebar.

But we're not just writers. During the past few years, we've discovered that we share other things -- like our fangirldom for Supernatural. We often e-mailed each other about the episodes, about what we liked and didn't like, about our speculation of where the big story arc is going, the deeper meaning behind certain story aspects, etc. Gradually, the idea of a blog where we could share these thoughts with even more fans popped into being. We want to have a dynamic, fun online community in which to talk about all things Supernatural.

Since there are five of us, we will be posting new blog posts Monday-Friday. One day you might read about mythology in the show; the next it might be an oh-so-philosophical discussion about which brother is hotter and why. :) There will be character studies, dissections of storylines, thoughts about casting, hopefully some interviews and so much more we haven't even thought up yet. Each Friday, we will be discussing the previous night's episode while it's fresh in everyone's minds. And if two days over the weekend is just too long to wait for new content, be sure to check in on Sundays when we'll post what Winchester goodness is coming up the next week.

So, to get the discussion going, what are some of the topics you think it'd be fun to discuss here? We'll keep a running list in our idea pool.

Trish! What a fab idea. Not surprised to see MJ among your ranks. ,-) I am so looking forward to this. Can't wait for the Season 4 to resume! I've actually been burning through the first 3 seasons, re-watching everything. Remember "Bedtime Stories" with the Brothers Grimm fairytales? (Dean to Sam when he suggested a pumpkin and a mouse on a porch might portend a Cinderella theme: "Dude, could you be more gay?") Or the episode with the rabbit's foot? Bwa-ha-ha!

LOL! There are SO many fabulous lines of dialogue in these series. You could actually believe Jared and Jensen are brothers in real life. And I can't help it, but any time one of them starts a sentence with "Dude" I crack up.

"Dude, where's the pie?" :)

Maureen Child said...

Oooh. watched the rabbit's foot episode last night!

Still one of my favorite lines, from Sam to Dean as Dean refuses to get off the Magic Fingers bed.. "Dude, you're like one of those lab rats who keeps pushing the pleasure button instead of the food button until he DIES."

great blog, you guys.....

Trish Milburn said...

Hey, Maureen. Thanks for stopping by. LOL about the Magic Fingers bed. Dean does have a mighty happy look on his face, doesn't he?

What a great idea, Trish. As you know I am a fan of all things Winchester, including dead Dad LOL.

When I was first engaged to my husband, we were so poor that our entertainment was watching the Friday night spook shows on TV -- Lon Chaney and the gang. I guess I got hooked on all kinds of scary movies, books, and television shows!

Thanks for highlighting Sammy and Dean, my fav smart-ass!

Jo, thanks for coming by to share in the fandom. I suspect when MJ gets home from work today, she'll add her comments. She's quite the fan of Dead Dan Winchester too. :) Poor Jeffrey Dean Morgan -- he seems to die in just about everything he's in.

Natalie J. Damschroder said...

Norah, I do the same thing whenever we have a hiatus! :)

Maureen, that's one of my favorite lines, too. My ALL time favorite exchange, though, is from "Playthings":

Sam: You're bossy.
Dean: What?!
Sam: You're bossy! And short. *giggle*
Dean: Are you drunk?
Same: Yeah? So? Stupid.

Ooh, Jo, you like it for the scary! That was the last reason I got into it. LOL

Trish, he does, but why did he get to come back on Grey's Anatomy and not SPN? I mean, it makes SO much more sense on our show!

See, and I'm kind of the opposite! I avoid horror movies and while I will occassionally read a scary book (darn you, Rita Herron!) I have to sleep with the light on for a week afterward. So I specifically skipped Supernatural during its first two seasons on the air. But a visit to Trish's house and a DVD marathon of Winchester brothers showed me the error of my ways :-) can't WAIT for the season return tonight!

Natalie, LOL, it does make more sense for JDM to come back on Supernatural, doesn't it?

Yes, I brought Tanya over to the dark side. :) I think she watched part of it through her fingers. :)

I watch ALL of it through my fingers. Well, except for when I'm ogling Jensen and Jared, of course.

PAPA WINCHESTER!!! How I love him....well, maybe not as John, because MAN, can he be a jackass, but love JDM. Love. Him.

Favorite line from SPN: "Next time you get a girlfriend, try for one who's not so buckets of crazy." I use "buckets of crazy" all the time now.

The episode I've been watching over and over is the Christmas episode. I love that from the "Special" animation at the beginning to the exchange at the end. And when they're looking at the wreathes and Sam has to play gay? LOL.

Trish Milburn said...

She really does use "buckets of crazy" all the time. :)

I think JDM is HOT, but I'm telling you Grey's jumped the freakin' shark with this Ghost storyline. It's driving me bonkers. Have him die already and come back to Supernatural. LOL.

MJFredrick said...

I agree, the Grey's storyline doesn't make sense, but I can see him preferring the higher rated show :) And I'll keep watchin' as long as he's on.

Which means Tivoing SPN and watching it an hour later, but I can also watch it over and over :)

It would make more sense for him to be a ghost on SPN, though!

I'll definitely be stopping by a lot. God, do I love these guys.
Thanks of directing me here, Mary.

We fangirls have to stick together :)

Okay, how about a little applause for Jensen doing his Eye of the Tiger lip synch this season? I've still got it on tape and play it when I need a laugh!

Trish Milburn said...

Welcome, Stephanie. You've come to the right place to share your Winchester love. :)

Trish Milburn said...

Maureen, that was absolutely hysterical. And on the topic of hysterical, I saw this clip on another blog:

http://supernaturalpodcast.blogspot.com/2009/01/new-supernatural-promo.html

I just keep watching and LMAO.

Natalie J. Damschroder said...

Buckets of crazy! I can never remember to use it.

We use "St. Peter on a Pogo Stick" a lot, though. LOL

The Eye of the Tiger is superawesome! And so is the promo, Trish, I watched it four times in a row, then several more when I showed it to my daughter! It's the jumping that gets me. I can't wait for the DVDs when we get to (hopefully) see more of the takes he did with the scream.

Trish Milburn said...

Natalie, I'd love an entire DVD of Supernatural outtakes/bloopers. It'd be a sure cure for anytime I was feeling down. I mean, seriously, how could you not laugh at them? :)

Less than 3 hours to showtime!

Thank you! I officially gave Grey's up this season, mostly because of that.

LOVE the Eye of the Tiger thing. My kids and I have watched it so many times that my husband made "my" ring tone on his phone E of the T and whenever my seven year old is trying to talk me into letting him watch SPN (um, no) he calls it the show with the Tiger Brothers. (I keep telling the kid that if he'll just be patient, in a few years we'll break out all my Supernatural, Buffy, Angel and Firefly DVDs. He's smart enough to already recognize them as great TV)

Trish, your idea for an entire DVD of outtake stuff is perfect! I'd be sending that as a stocking stuffer to everyone on my Christmas list.

Tanya

Natalie J. Damschroder said...

Me, too, Trish! Heck, it doesn't even need to be bloopers. It can be mundane shooting prep. I'd even watch the boys conferring over scripts. Even sitting and silently reading! LOL

Tanya, that's so cute! The Tiger Brothers.

Nat, I'm shocked, SHOCKED that I didn't get a personal invitation to come check out this blog. After all, no one is a bigger fan than moi!

AuthorM said...

I love all things Winchester. Well, except for a few things we won't mention because I don't love them.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! WINCHESTERS!

Trish Milburn said...

Karmela and AuthorM, so glad you stopped by. AuthorM, love your "Wheeeeeeee". :)

Be sure to come back tomorrow to read Natalie's thoughts on tonight's episode.

Natalie J. Damschroder said...

Don't be hurt, Karm, I didn't send personal invites to anyone! I figured the best would find their way here. And they HAVE! :)

AuthorM's thoughts are likely to feed mine because we talk about the episode immediately after it airs. :) It's always most interesting when I argue with her.

Right, M? *eg*

A good friend pointed me here, and she's getting a boatload of chocolate. HUGEST Supernatural fan ever here (I defy you to prove me wrong) and a fellow writer, too. I'm still bouncing from tonight's episode -- half of me is chewing on the emotional meat and the other half is still hiding behind my hands.

Can't wait to see what you ladies do with this. Count me in on a regular basis!

Trish Milburn said...

Amy, tonight's was hiding behind the hands worthy. Can't wait to see what Natalie has to say about it tomorrow.

Trish Milburn said...

Wanted to thank everyone for making our launch day a big hit. We hope you all are regular visitors here in We Love Winchesters-Land. :)

Natalie J. Damschroder said...

Thanks for coming over to check us out, Amy!

There will be plenty of opportunity to see how you measure up to this group of obsessive fans! We should do a trivia game at some point. :)

So excited you gals are doing this blog!! Looks fantastic!

Thanks, Anne! Hope you enjoy it!

What a great idea this blog is! I love Supernatural. Haven't missed an episode. The horror stuff kinda creeps me out :), but its the relationship between the brothers, the dialogue--which ranges from snarky to poignant--and the comparision/contrast between Human and Other that keep me coming back each week.

Natalie J. Damschroder said...

Definitely, Marilyn!

I am impressed with and jealous of your ability to be so succinct. :)

Thanks for checking us out!

I forgot, THIS is my favorite quote: Always take down your Christmas decorations after New Years, or you might get fileted by hooker from God.
