News Monday...on TUESDAY!

Been a while since we did a full news post. Here's what's been coming through my inbox!

Geekgasm Alert: Most of you probably know that JJ Abrams and Eric Kripke got together for Revolution, a network TV drama with a lot of secrecy over the storyline. NBC hesitated, but finally green-lit the pilot. So cross your fingers that the pilot does well! Here's the story description (we'll ignore the flaws inherent in the way it's described...):

"The project is described as a high-octane action drama that follows a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist."

Jared Padalecki did another interview with TVLine about Misha and Jim being off the show, what's coming, and what he'd want in season 8.

Zap2It did a set visit with a video interview. I love the details, like the Super Bowl pool and the wardrobe from a recent episode.

I won't post a link for this, because it's everywhere, but Rachel Miner will be returning. She most recently housed Meg-the-Demon in season 6.

In this Friday's episode, Dean swears off booze and chicks. (Click link for clip from the episode posted at BuddyTV.)

There've been spoilers running around about Castiel's return in episode 17. I keep getting glimpses, but don't follow the links, so all I see is "Castiel's missing something" with all kinds of "oh noes!" connotations. But... Isn't that one pretty easy? He won't be wearing the infamous trench coat, because when he went all esplody in the water, Dean pulled the coat out. Anyone have another suggestion?

News and Hiatus

The TCA was held recently, and there's an interview with Jared Padalecki that's FULL OF SPOILERS, so beware!

There's also an interview with Robert Singer at Digital Spy.

I admit, after last week's awesome episode, I gobbled up details about what's upcoming, and I'm excited. :)

Not so excited, though, about another hiatus. According to a sneak peek note on Dread Central, we're back to reruns until February 3rd. WTH?

(In a related note, the local CBS and CW stations went black in Verizon here in Central PA from late Thursday through Sunday, because Verizon and the station group owner couldn't agree to a new contract. There was much wailing and anger! Luckily for me, I'm on DirecTV. :) )

Interviews and Videos and News and Stuff

The best news this week?

Supernatural got an extra episode! The CW ordered 23, which will either extend the season a week or make one of the hellatuses shorter. New CW president Mark Pedowicz says it's part of an attempt to keep out of the ratings black hole they fall into during those breaks.

Bunches of interviews out! I'll mark the ones I know contain spoilers, but I didn't watch the videos, so proceed with caution.

Jim Beaver talks about Bobby and the boys in season 7 (spoilers!).

Buzz Focus interviews Jensen. And Jim.

Mo Ryan interviewed Misha at TCA.

If you're a Vampire Diaries fan, another SPN recurring actor will be showing up over there. Sebastian Roche has been cast as a "mysterious vampire hunter."

Last week's "Supernatural Thursdays" post at Daemon's TV was the show's most quotable lines. I don't care how many times I see posts like that, or watch the show's themselves, I love reading them. Check it out! :)

SPN News as Shooting for Season 7 Begins

Slow trickle of news at this time of year. It should pick up now that they're filming again, though! :)

Are you one of the fans upset or cautiously optimistic about Misha Collins' role as Castiel in season 7? Laura Prudom of AOL TV went to Haiti with Misha and Random Acts, and took the opportunity to ask him about it. Mild spoilers.

Alona Tal tweeted (in a vague kind of way) that she'll be back on the show in some capacity in season 7. You can read an analysis here.

In other casting news, Kim Rhodes (Bobby's Sheriff Millsannounced at the NJ Salute to Supernatural that she'll be back this season, too—filming right after Comic-Con.

My two favorite shows collide yet again! Yesterday my Google alert included links to an article confirming that Jewel Staite will be guest-starring in the episode Jensen is directing! Set photos can be found here, taken by a fan. You can't see Jewel's face in either shot, but die-hard fans may recognize body language and head shape. LOL

At Comic-Con's preview night on July 20th, Warner Bros. will be sneak-peaking the anime series. (Details here.

Speaking of Comic-Con... If you're going, you're in for a treat. Warner Bros. is putting Supernatural in Hall H! The panel will be Sunday from 11:15 to 12:15. Be warned: It's followed by the Doctor Who panel. There's a lot of overlap in fandoms, so that might work out nicely, but still take the huge Doctor Who following into account in your planning. (Remember when the Twihards filled the hall early so the Avatar people couldn't get in?)

Anyone hear any other news?

Supernatural News

Supernatural ratings stay steady.

Sera Gamble talks about the structure of the season finale.

Nice interview with Jared and Jensen.

SPN News for the week of YAY the show's back!

The 22-episode anime series based on Supernatural is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on July 26, here in the U.S. You can read details of the set here. The main storyline follows seasons 1 and 2, but includes new stories.

Misha Collins tweeted a cast-and-crew photo, possibly from the wrap of season 6.

It seems they've changed the order of upcoming episodes, according to a Zap2it article. SPOILERS Whew. I thought I was nuts, that the preview they showed at the end of the last episode was NOT the same preview they've shown for the last few weeks. I'm still a little confused, between the episode title and the images, but I'm sure all will become clear. :)

Dean (Jensen Ackles) is up against Glee's Blaine (Darren Criss) in Kristin-from-E!Online's Alpha Male Madness showdown finale. I'm sorry, I love Blaine/Darren Criss, but alpha male? Not in this universe. Vote for Dean! Poll closes tomorrow.

Buddy TV posted some fan-generated ideas for a Supernatural spinoff.

Jim Beaver returned to his alma mater, the University of Central Oklahoma, to star in a play, "The Guys."

The show returns this week with "My Heart Will Go On." With one exception (May 13), we get new episodes straight through to the season finale. Hopefully, by then we'll know if we get a season 7!

News for the Week of Thank God the Show is Back...Oh, Wait

Originally, I said "Yay, it's back! But I'm already sad." Now I'm doubly sad, as (according to EW) due to pre-emptions in Chicago and Baltimore and Vampire Diaries going up against American Idol for the first time, the return of Smallville and Supernatural got pushed back so the CW could air VD and Nikita in rerun. This article talks about how well that worked out (or didn't).

While I prepared this post last week, I ignored all the articles about "Like a Virgin," because it was supposed to have aired by now. Suffice to say it sounds AWESOME, exactly what we've been craving all season, and supposedly we'll have a new appreciation for Jared Padalecki's first-half performance. I can't wait.

The new episodes were scheduled to last through February 25th, with a new hellatus for the entire month of March (now possibly altered due to this push-back). CW's schedule here. SPN-centric list of episode titles here.

Sera Gamble did an interview with The Winchester Family Business. I didn't want to read it, as it contains spoilers, but I couldn't help myself. I particularly loved this general comment:

WFB: Is the brotherly relationship ready to go back to the path of healing, or does that road still have a lot of bumps ahead?

SG: There are always bumps. It’s
Supernatural. But they’re not feed-you-to-vampire sized bumps.

She did another interview with Maureen Ryan that I did not read.

TV Line (Michael Ausiello's new site) has a newrenewal scorecard that lists Supernatural as a sure thing for next season. Yay!

Actors are always asked if they'll return to Supernatural, and always say that on this show, anything can happen. It came up re: Mark Pellegrino last week. He's now on Being Human.

Missing Jeffrey Dean Morgan? To further ensure he'll have no time for an encore appearance on Supernatural, he's soon to be starring in a new drama on Starz (unless those final negotiations fail).

In casting news, Sonya Salomaa (Watchmen) will play a tough angel in a potentially recurring role. Also, Death will be returning (like we couldn't guess that) as will...ELLEN!

Monday News for Thanksgiving Week

There is no other way to start this post than to say I am thankful for Supernatural. I know, total cliché. Sorry. Moving on.

First, the bad news, which I discovered as I started preparing this last Wednesday but by now those who watched the preview at the end of the last episode will have discovered: no new Supernatural next week! What, they think people don't watch TV gorged with turkey leftovers and exhausted from doorbuster shopping? Crazy.

Worse news? Hellatus begins after the December 10th episode, as mentioned in this EW interview with Sera Gamble. What she says (SPOILER ALERT) may be encouraging. Or not. And we thought Kripke was evil!

Get your holiday gift list ready: The Supernatural Season Five Official Companion is out!

Don't forget to vote in the People's Choice Awards. Supernatural made the finals for "Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show."

I saw lots of spoilers in the news (this is why I delete all my Google alerts when I'm not responsible for News Monday!):

Upcoming guest star; TV Guide Preview; Episode 10 photos (possibly a duplicate from the guest star link); Interview with Misha. Here's another, slightly older, interview with Misha. More spoiler tidbits from Sera Gamble.

And a new interview with Jensen and Jared. It's a new post, but it was conducted before the premiere, so their hints are amusing now that we know the truth about things. There's only one thing that could be considered a spoiler, about the necklace.

Here's a Misha Collins property that's way too entertaining for its description. Warning: last ten seconds not safe for anyone under, like, 18.

Anyone watch Castle a couple of weeks ago? The actor who played Jesse, the AntiChrist, was an abducted child. His mother was played by Ever Carradine, who played his mother on Supernatural, too! What guest-star spottings have you made recently?

Monday News for 10/18/10

How awesome was "Weekend at Bobby's"? Jensen got a lot of attention for his (IMO, stellar) direction of that episode. In case you missed it, scroll down for an awesome behind-the-scenes.

As for news, in no particular order (save what came into my inbox via Google Alert)...

There's a spoiler somewhere in here that I didn't read.

Bela/Lauren Cohen fans might be interested to learn that the actress is coming to Vampire Diaries soon.

Zap2it posted an interview Friday with Mark Sheppard, aka Crowley. They lead with a quote that shows just how awesome Sheppard is:

"You don't want know when I'm going to be in it or not be in it," he says. "You just kind of want to know that I exist. The fans are very, very serious about not getting spoilered on this. So let's hope that you guys keep quiet. You shouldn't even mention that I'm here."

Of course, Firefly fans knew of his awesomeness years ago, m'iright? :) He goes on to discuss his future on the show (without spoilers) and Jensen's directing.

Supernatural News

Supernatural had a 20% gain in viewership this week! I wonder if it was those delicious previews of Sam, which is the only part I've watched a second time because the rest? GROSS!

Even Entertainment Weekly mentioned that Supernatural is one of the winners in the ratings game, giving The CW its best Friday night ratings.

In other news, Misha Collins is a new daddy! He and his wife have been together since high school. Isn't that sweet? The link has a perfectly adorable picture of Misha.

The trailer for the Supernatural anime is out. It looks completely cool!

Jim Beaver has been tweeting about being on a non-supernatural show called Love Bites. With the latest vampire craze, you'd think they'd name it something else.

And because you've been so good...

SPN News: 8 weeks down, 11 to go

The end is near!

Well, of course not really. On the show, the end was averted. And IRL, we still have months and months to go before the season premiere. Until September 24th to be exact! The CW was the first network to announce premiere dates, and unfortunately, our beloved show is the last one on the schedule.

But up in Vancouver, they're already shooting. Jim Beaver tweeted that they were beginning filming of Jensen Ackles' directorial debut on June 30. Whether that's episode 3 or episode 4 seems open to debate. Ausiello and Jim Beaver say it's ep 4, but other sources (including Jensen Ackles) said it's ep 3.

Does it really matter? :)

They're filming this episode first so Jensen can have his prep time without interference from or in the episodes that come before his. You can find details of the episode, titled "Weekend at Bobby's," here.

Is it September yet?

In other news...

Mark Pellegrino tells Fearnet (article via Digital Spy) that he would love to return to the show.

The Complete First Season of Supernatural was released on Blu-Ray (finally!) last month, so if you're a Blu-Ray user looking to complete your collection, now you can!

Spoiler TV has amalgamated some casting and behind-the-scenes spoilers about potential guest stars and the episode Jensen is directing at the beginning of the season.

Sun Valley Magazine has a article about "The Perfect Winter Wedding." The focus is on Genevieve, a Sun Valley native, but it has some beautiful photos of the wedding.

Ausiello announces the official word on Mitch Pileggi's return, with other casting news. Minor spoilery.

Going to Comic-Con? Warner Bros. announced their lineup, and the Supernatural screening and Q&A will be on Sunday, July 25, from 11:15 to 12:15. Eric, Ben, and Sera will join unnamed actors to present a sneak peak of season 5 DVD extras as well as season 6.

The CW Sourcies (fan awards) are currently being conducted. Keep track of them here and vote on Most Heartbreaking Moment, Best Villian, etc. Voting time frame for each category is short-lived, so check back often!

SPN News for Start of Final, Interminable Hiatus

Boy, I lucked out this week with news to link you to! Also thanks to MJ (again!) for some of these. She's great at finding the stuff my Google alerts miss. :)

Late Addition: Ausiello at EW has posted his "bubble list" of TV shows and likelihood for (or status of) renewal. He considers Supernatural a sure thing. Yay!

First up: Kevin Parks, who was Supernatural's first AD for 21 episodes, is riding in The Ride to Conquer Cancer for the BC Cancer Foundation, in honor of director Kim Manners.

The Feb. 12/19 '10 issue of Entertainment Weekly contained mention of Jeffrey Dean Morgan in an article about movie actors doing TV. JDM fans will be thrilled to hear he has 5 (FIVE!) movies expected to release in 2010.

In casting news, former EastEnders actor Adam Croasdell will play Baldur. I'll minimize spoilers and let you Google it to see who that is. I'm very intrigued. :)

This article talks about the upcoming 100th episode. I'd seen pictures of the party, but this was the first write-up I read that mentioned that episode is scheduled to air April 15th.

Related: Dawn Ostroff was interviewed at a 100th-episode event in a non-spoilery video about the show and its run so far. There's also a video with Jim Beaver in this archive. And the TV Addict had some pics and a video. Check out that fourth pic. OMG, they are HUGE! LOL

A new interview with Chad Lindberg was posted last week. I didn't read it because it's spoilery! :)

Misha Collins also did an interview posted last week. It's UK-based, and they just started season 5 over there, so it maybe a lot of what we've already seen/heard. But it's Misha! :)

Do you subscribe to Supernatural magazine? If not, here's a taste of what you're missing: an excerpt from an interview with Jared and Jensen.

Watch with Kristin at E!Online held another CW Awards because they never get any love at the "real" awards. :) Supernatural made a very poor showing. Stoopid vampires.

Unfounded rumors persist in connecting Jensen Ackles to the upcoming Captain America movie (now they're saying he's one of the recent auditionees), but the LA Times gives us a definite casting note. Jensen Ackles joins Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Isaacs, and Bruce Greenwood as the voice of Red Hood in "Batman: Under the Red Hood" to be released on DVD. Additional commentary on the casting can be found here.

E!Online gossip columnist Ted Casablanca talks about wedding dates for the show's stars. Sharing the link dispite my dislike of being lumped in with the...um...less level-headed fans. :) Ted follows that up with this video with Daneel Harris. It's fluffy, but she's adorable, and talks about Valentine's plans with Jensen.

Check out 2thedeuce.com's "Battle of the Network Hotties". In round 1, all the SPN guys won their competitions (though two were losing when I first saw it!). That link should take you to round 2.

And that will do it for this week!

News February 8

Sorry, I just loved this scene SO much. Happy John and Mary...sigh.

Besides, I needed something to ease you as I deliver the bad news. After Thursday's show, Supernatural will be on hiatus for SIX WEEKS! All together now...WAHHHHHH!!!! The dh pointed out that most shows will be on break during the Olympics but still. WAHHHHH!

According to Jim Beaver's Tweets, shooting continues until the end of March. He will return in episode 15, then episode 18. Also, he's confirmed for SPN conventions in LA, Rome, Australia, Birmingham, and Germany.

The Chicago Tribune has an interesting comparison between Lost and Supernatural.

The show recently celebrated their 100th episode and are being considered for a sixth season.

Trish and I saw Legion when she was here last week and we were both, "Meh." Anyone else see it? What did you think?

Mostly Spoilery News!

Shooting hiatus apparently means increased promotional activities, because we’ve got a bunch of interviews this week.

First, though, some casting and contest news:

FlashForward viewers might have gasped, “Hey, it’s Kubrick!” during the so-called fall finale.  He plays the infamous D. Gibbons, someone with an apparent connection to the blackout.

According to this article, Alona Tal joins Daneel Harris in the voice cast of Night of the Living Dead: Origins.

Buddy TV is having a holiday trivia contest, with prizes including signed DVDs and photos.

The episode 11 promo (“Sam, Interrupted”) can be found here.

Okay, interviews galore. Spoilers are marked with **, and I didn’t read those! :)

Misha Collins (I read this one, no spoilers)

More Misha**

Eric Kripke** (referencing a Nov. 20 USA Weekend article)

Sera Gamble** and another Sera Gamble** (might be same stuff)

Upcoming Episode Titles** (5.14 makes me squee. :) )

Misha Collins and Julie McNiven**

Here is a short vid interview with Jensen Ackles.  It looks like it’s old, from nearly a year ago, but who cares?  It’s Jensen on film, and we can pretend it’s recent and he’s talking about season six. :)

Ask Ausiello on the 100th episode.

Scroll down in this article for Four Horsemen spoilers.

A "Supernatural Magazine" review for 100-page issue #12 (I might need to get my hands on that!).

This thread posts a casting call for episode 5.14 (SPOILERS) and also posts a recent TV Guide article about the episode.

There you go!  Hopefully that will tide you over for a while.  Or at least today.  Two weeks down, we won’t say how many to go…

Supernatural News Lite

Not a lot of news that I can find this week.

Huffington Post called Supernatural the best show on the CW.

Jared and Jensen are named in the top 50 Teen Idols by aol.com. (Jared #21 and Jensen #36. Not sure I agree with that!) But they're listed there with teen idols from years past, so any showing is good!

Ghostfacers was named one of the top 14 greatest format-breaking episodes ever by SFX, the science fiction magazine.

It's so good to see the show get wider coverage!

Since I couldn't find much in the way of news, I thought I'd help you with your shopping this year. There are some cool Supernatural-themed products at Cafe Press. I asked for this:

And this:

This is fun too:

Then there are calendars. This year Creation Entertainment will let you choose Sam or Dean, or if you can't, you can have both!

Supernatural News

It is so hard for me to compile the news because I avoid spoilers like mad.

Buddy TV has a pros and cons of Season 6.
Screen Rant has a positive slant on the dismal ratings. (WHY do they complain when SPN is up against the hard-hitters like Grey's, CSI and The Office? Now Fringe is taking away some of the audience. Even I have a hard time deciding how to split my time and I love SPN.)

You can write in Supernatural and your favorite brother in the People's Choice Awards. I picked Jensen.

The brothers are listed at TVGuide.com as some of the sexiest crime fighters on TV.

Hunter's Addict has some possible spoilers on Episode 10. By my count, that will be the last one before hiatus. Check it out here if you want to know.

You can help Supernatural fans raise money for Make-A-Wish! A Supernatural marathon--now that's the marathon I'm trained for.

Supernatural Wiki has a list of conventions in 2010, all around the world. Make plans now!

And, not news but another question I have. Remember last season Kripke said he wasn't planning to cast Lucifer? Do you think he meant for Lucifer to go into Sam as soon as he rose?

Supernatural News

Keith R. A. DeCandido is coming out with two Supernatural novels in 2010. The first, Heart of the Dragon, is out February 16. Love the cover.

Rolling Stone listed Supernatural as Reason #27 in its “50 Reasons to Watch TV” article in the Sept. 17 issue. It’s a teeny blurb that compares the Winchesters to the Duke boys, but it is #27.

Sadly, Supernatural came in last in its time slot both weeks. The first week, everything was reruns, but this week The Office and Fringe had season premieres. Supernatural fell 14% from the previous week. This week it goes up against Grey's Anatomy. GULP! So get the word out!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is signed to be in the remake of Red Dawn. It will be out next September. Currently, he’s filming The Losers, another movie based on a graphic novel. He would like to return to Supernatural for an episode or two but hasn’t been formally approached.

Sales of the season 4 DVD doubled from the sales of Season 3 DVDS, the first week of release. This year, 238,081 copies sold the first week, earning $8.7 million. Last year, 104,979 copies sold, earning $4.1 million (I think I just got my word problem for the day for my class ;) )

News Monday

Welcome to our first official News Monday. Beginning today, we're starting a new rotation of topics in celebration of Premiere Week. Each Monday, we'll be bringing you the latest news about Supernatural, Jared, Jensen, other actors and crew associated with the show -- pretty much anything related to our favorite show. And we encourage you to share what you've heard, too. Just, please, label anything as a spoiler if it's a scoop about an future episode.

On Wednesdays, our topics will vary as they have since we launched the blog. And on Fridays, we'll be going back to weekly recaps of each week's new episode. Only 3 more days, peeps!

So, here's today's news recap:

Three new clips of the season premiere have appeared online. Click here to see the Chicago Tribune article that includes the clips.

The Scream Award nominees have been announced. Even though Supernatural and its actors were not nominated, Jared's Friday the 13th and Jensen's My Bloody Valentine were both nominated for Best Horror Movie. See the info about the nominees and how to vote here.

Tanya and I just spent three days at Dragon*Con in Atlanta. The panel offerings related to Supernatural jumped from one last year to three this year. We're going to lobby to see if they can get some of the stars to attend next year. For those of you who don't know, Dragon*Con is a huge (as in 40,000+ attendees) sci-fi/fantasy/pop culture/you name it conference held each Labor Day in Atlanta. Lots and lots of Hollywood stars attend. We haven't met any Supernatural folks yet, but we're hopeful for next year.

So, what have you all heard lately related to the show or anyone affiliated with it?
